How ClearMeta Works

ClearMeta operates entirely on your local Mac using advanced local processing:

• All file processing happens locally using the ExifTool engine
• No files, metadata, or processing information are sent over the internet
• The app only accesses files that you explicitly select via drag-and-drop or file dialogs
• Processed files are saved to locations you specify, with automatic conflict resolution
• Thumbnail caches and temporary processing files are stored locally and automatically cleaned up
• All processing operations use secure, sandboxed processes that cannot access other files

Permissions and Data Access

ClearMeta requests minimal permissions necessary for operation:

• File Read Access: To read image files you select for processing
• File Write Access: To save processed versions of your files
• Folder Access: To process folders and subfolders when requested

What ClearMeta Does NOT Access:

• Your Photos library (unless you explicitly select files from it)
• Files outside of folders you choose to process
• System files or applications
• Network resources or internet connections
• Other applications' data or preferences

App Store Information

When you download ClearMeta from the Mac App Store, Apple may collect certain information as part of their standard practices. This information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours. We do not have access to any information collected by Apple.

If we make any changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We will also provide notice of significant changes through the app or our website.
